Staff workspace · Client portal app · One platform

The whole firm,
in one place.
Clients included.

Lesarra brings your matters, drafting, tasks, calls and client care into a single staff workspace — and gives every client their own app for documents, court dates, tasks and answers. Nothing is shared with a client until a person at your firm says so.

  • Built in practiceDesigned inside a California criminal-defense firm, for real caseloads.
  • Word-native draftingReal pleading paper, tracked changes and immutable versions.
  • English & SpanishThe client app speaks your client's language, end to end.

Two apps. One record of the case.

Most firms run on a patchwork: a case system here, texts on someone's phone, drafts in email, clients calling for updates you already sent. Lesarra replaces the patchwork with one permissioned record — seen two ways.

Nothing auto-shares
Drafts, notes and internal discussion never reach a client by accident. Sharing is an explicit act, per person and per document.
Support people, safely
A parent or spouse gets their own account and their own view — never the client's private history or internal case detail.
AI only on request
Models run when a person asks, on the sources that person selected. Editing, saving and exporting never call a model.
History you can trust
Draft versions, published answers and shared guides are immutable once issued. You can always show what was sent, and when.

Take the tour

Four workspaces your team will live in. Switch between them — this is the shape of a day in Lesarra.

Every matter, one home

People, contacts, notes, files, deadlines and time — scoped to the case and to exactly who is allowed in. New leads flow in from intake with owners, stages, consultations and follow-ups already attached.

  • Named, per-matter permissions — colleagues see a case only when added
  • Shared tasks with assignees, due dates, dependencies and reminders
  • Hearings, appointments and deadlines on one firm calendar
  • Case files with versioned, private storage and comments
  • Search across matters, people and documents

A real Word editor on real pleading paper — captions, line numbers, tracked changes, comments and proof of service — backed by templates and an assistant you invoke deliberately, one request at a time.

  • Motion Desk templates for recurring criminal motions & letters
  • Mitigation memos synthesized from the evidence you select
  • Sections, assignments, reviewer suggestions and named forks
  • Every save an immutable version; stale saves rejected, work preserved
  • Unknown facts stay visible as [REQUIRED: …] — never invented

The client portal, run by staff

Create the case, add the client and any support person, choose exactly what each of them can see, and send a personal invitation. From then on, updates go out once — not by phone tag.

  • Per-document access: “can view” and “assistant may use” are separate switches
  • Case-stage guides in English and Spanish, published as fixed versions
  • Court dates, meetings and deadlines, clearly labelled by type
  • Attorney Q&A with published, attributed, unchangeable answers
  • Invitation status, resend and revoke — delivery honestly reported

Calls, texts and email — filed to the case

Client messages and calls stop living on personal phones. Conversations are linked to the matter, attributed to the staff member who sent them, and summarised into the case record.

  • Text clients from the firm's line, from any staff device
  • Call Desk with call records, dispositions and CRM callbacks
  • Case-centred email, so the team stops forwarding and CC-ing
  • Daily conversation transcripts filed to the case note
  • Morning briefs and nightly reports built from the same records

For the firm: everything after “you're retained”

Lesarra Staff is the app and website your team opens in the morning and closes at night.

Intake & CRM

Leads with owners, sources, stages and consultations. Follow-ups become shared tasks, so no callback depends on one person's memory.

Matters & people

Case records with contacts, notes, employee time and internal cost — each visible only to the named team on that matter.

Tasks & calendar

One task system across cases, notes and meetings, plus hearings and deadlines on a shared docket. Morning briefs tell each person what today holds.

Files, where they are

Start from each attorney's own Google Drive or Dropbox, import with hashes preserved, and migrate into firm storage case by case — originals never overwritten.

Notes & meetings

Work notes and meeting records become deduplicated, assigned tasks with their source attached. Completion updates every view at once.

A helper that asks first

A permission-aware assistant answers from records you select, quotes its sources, and hands proposed tasks to a human for review. It never acts silently.

Reports & oversight

Personal nightly reports and, for managers, firm views built from the same records and cutoffs — cases, tasks, calls, time and AI spend.

Firm Settings

Admins control AI providers, model allowlists, data-use approvals and spending limits. Keys are encrypted and write-only; unconfigured means visibly off.

Drafting, on pleading paper

Open a matter and you are looking at the document the court will see: caption filled from the case, 28 numbered lines, your footer, your proof of service. Edit it in the browser with tracked changes and Word comments, or export the exact same file to Word and PDF.

  • Motion Desk templates — Evidence Code §730 expert appointments, substitution of attorney / Penal Code §1050 continuances, supplemental funding orders, and a growing library
  • Letters of representation — investigating agency, police, tow-yard, expert-confidentiality and civil-deposition letters on your firm's own forms
  • Mitigation memos — built from discovery, program records, character letters and photos you select, with every paragraph traceable to its source
  • Review before filing — send the final Word file for sign-off in one click; incomplete copies are labelled and Word-only
  • Honest by construction — the model writes factual paragraphs with source references; fixed templates supply the legal language; gaps show as [REQUIRED: …]

Lesarra prepares documents. It does not file them or effect service, and every export for filing requires attorney review and acknowledgment.

For clients: an app, not a phone tag

Your client signs in and sees what is happening, what is next, and what you need from them — in English or Spanish. Try the phone: each tab is a real screen in the app.

  • Home — case stage in plain language, next date, what's new
  • Chat — an assistant that answers only from documents and guides your firm approved for that person, and shows its sources
  • Tasks — questionnaires, document requests, and things to bring
  • Schedule — court, meetings and deadlines, each labelled for what it is
  • Questions — ask the attorney directly; answers arrive published, dated and attributed — and never pass through the AI
  • Scan & send — photograph documents or ID in the app and send them to the firm

Support people get their own sign-in and a narrower view. Sessions live in the phone's protected keychain; transcripts are not stored on the device.

How a law firm uses Lesarra

One matter, end to end. Follow a new client from first call to court date.

The call comes in

Intake creates the lead with an owner and a consultation. The callback is a shared task — if the owner is in court, anyone can pick it up.

Retained

The lead becomes a matter. The team is named, the first hearing lands on the calendar, and representation letters go out from your firm's forms.

The client joins the app

Staff send a personal invitation. The client sets a password, installs the app, and immediately sees their court date, their first tasks, and a guide to what happens next — in their language.

Work happens in the open — internally

Discovery is imported and shared with the client where appropriate. The motion is drafted on pleading paper, reviewed with tracked changes, and saved as immutable versions. The client sees only what you publish.

Questions stop interrupting

Routine questions are answered in the app from your approved guides, with sources. Real legal questions reach the attorney queue and are answered once, on the record.

Everyone knows where to be

The client's app shows Dept. 12 at 9:00. Your morning brief shows the same hearing, the filed motion, and what is still outstanding. Tonight's report closes the loop.

Who it's for

Criminal-defense firms — Lesarra's templates, pleading paper and client guides were built for California criminal practice first.

Small and midsize teams — one system instead of five subscriptions, with permissions that match how a small firm actually shares work.

Firms whose clients call for updates — if “any news on my case?” is your most-answered question, the client app pays for the platform.

Firms moving off a legacy case system — keep your billing where it is; Lesarra takes over the operational record in stages you control.

Onboarding, without the big-bang migration

Five steps, each reversible until you say otherwise. Most firms pilot with new matters first.

1 · Walkthrough & fit check

We run your real workflows — intake, a motion, a client update — through Lesarra with fictional sample data. You see exactly what staff and clients see before anyone commits.

You leave with: a scoped plan naming which workspaces you will use first.

2 · Firm setup

Create staff accounts (first sign-in requires a password change), set firm branding for the client app, load your pleading paper, caption and letter forms, and decide your AI policy in Firm Settings — providers off until you approve them.

You leave with: a workspace that produces documents that look like yours.

3 · Connect & import

Each attorney connects their own Google Drive or Dropbox — no firm-wide service account. Existing matters, calendars and contacts import with a reconciliation report; nothing is deleted at the source, and billing stays in your current system.

You leave with: verified imports you can check line by line.

4 · Pilot matters

Run a handful of new matters end to end: intake, tasks, drafting, client messages. Train the team on their actual work, tune templates and guides, and confirm the morning brief matches your day.

You leave with: a team that has already done the job in Lesarra.

5 · Invite clients

Add each client — and, where appropriate, a support person with their own narrower view. Choose their documents and guides, then send the invitation. Links are personal, single-use and expire in seven days; you can resend or revoke any time.

You leave with: clients who check the app before they call.

Built like client confidences depend on it

Because they do. Lesarra's boundaries are structural, not settings someone can fat-finger.

Separate stores, by design

Staff authentication, drafting, the client portal and messaging each live in their own database and file store. A portal account can never reach a drafting workspace.

Access is per person, per document

New people inherit nothing. “Can view this document” and “the assistant may draw on it” are separate grants, and every access is rechecked when used — revoke it and it's gone.

AI with the brakes on

Requests are explicit, single-shot and source-bound, sent with storage disabled where the provider supports it. Your admins approve each provider and set spending ceilings; unconfigured providers are visibly unavailable, never silently substituted.

Secrets stay secret

API keys and connection tokens are encrypted, write-only, and never appear in audit logs. Connection tests use a fixed fictional request — never case data.

An honest record

Append-only audit trails, immutable draft versions and published answers, and delivery states that say “sent” only when a service accepted the message — never “read.”

Phones hold as little as possible

Client sessions sit in the device keychain, transcripts stay on the firm service, and the app clears its state when backgrounded. Uploads are authenticated, private, and attributed.

Questions firms ask first

Does Lesarra replace our billing system?

No — deliberately. Keep invoices, payments and trust accounting where they are (for many firms, MyCase). Lesarra tracks employee time and internal cost, and takes over the operational record: matters, documents, communications and client care.

Can a client ever see our internal notes or drafts?

Not by accident, and not by default. Internal drafting, team discussion and case notes live in staff-only stores. A client sees a document only when a staff member grants that named person access to that document — and support people never see the client's private history.

What does the client-app assistant actually know?

Only what you approve for that person: shared documents with reviewed text, and published case-stage guides. It cites its sources in every answer. Questions a client addresses to their attorney bypass the assistant entirely and wait for a human.

Our files are in Drive and Dropbox. Do we have to move everything?

No. Each attorney connects their own account and works from existing folders first. Imports preserve file bytes and hashes, and migration into firm storage happens case by case, when you choose.

Which practice areas does it fit?

Lesarra was built inside a California criminal-defense practice — its motion templates, pleading paper and client guides are criminal-first. The matter, task, communication and client-portal machinery is practice-neutral, and templates are built from your firm's own forms during setup.

What about clients who are in custody, or without a smartphone?

A case works fully without an enrolled client. You can add a support person — a parent or spouse — with their own account and a limited view, and invite the client whenever they are able to enroll.

Does it work in Spanish?

Yes. The client app is fully bilingual — interface, guides, dates and assistant replies — and follows the client's device language until they choose otherwise.

How is AI use controlled and billed?

Your admins choose providers and models in Firm Settings, approve data use per provider, and set monthly spending ceilings with per-feature limits. Staff AI usage and charges are visible in the workspace. Nothing calls a model except an explicit human request.
